What is life? Is it something we can touch or see? Is it something we just know is there? I am not quite sure how to define life without using a dictionary, all I know is that my life would not be as happy or loving without you in it. You, my loving Antonio are the reason that I live and love. Without you , I would breathe in and out everyday but I would not live each day with such joy in my heart. You say we are soul mates and I do like that saying so much, but we are more than that to each other. You are my very heartbeat , the air that flows into my lungs and without you , there is no life in me. You ask if I am happy with you, such a silly question for such an intelligent man. I have never in my short time in this world felt so happy and so loved as I do with you! So now maybe I can define life for you, life is being able to wake everyday , open your eyes and know that you are exactly where you are supposed to be. To not breathe in and out automatically, but to relish and rejoice in each breath that we take ,expectantly awaiting another and another. Life is not measured in the breaths that we take, but in the moments that take our breath away. Antonio you take my breath away every moment of each day with you, for I would not be me without you.
My wish for you on this special day, is that you have peaceful sleep , with dreams instead of nightmares, to feel nothing but my love for you as you drift peacefully asleep. I want you to know in your heart and your mind that you are perfect in my eyes, regardless of any past, present or future transgressions you believe you are guilty of. We have our whole lives together and we will live them to the fullest, no apologies , no regrets, just peace and love and dreams fulfilled.
Antonio may you have the most wonderful Valentines Day imaginable, filled with laughter, joy , family and friends. Smile for me Antonio, for it makes my day and brightens my heart.
You are the love of my life Antonio! Nothing and no one will ever change that. Remember, now and forever.
Forever and Always
This blog post is part of The Love Letter Campaign... a project started by FamilyOfaVet.com to encourage those who love a hero to write a letter sharing their story (where they started, what they've faced together, and why their love endures). It's not just for spouses, but also for parents, siblings, caregivers, and friends. It's about telling the "rest" of our stories... stories that continue despite PTSD, TBI, and the challenges of life after combat. To share your love letter or find out more about the campaign, visithttp://www.familyofavet.com/love_letters.html.
